Jean-François Julliard is General Secretary of Reporters sans frontières. Born in Bordeaux he has followed cinema and audiovisual studies. He holds a Master’s degree in information and communication of the Institut de Presse – Université de Paris 2 – Panthéon and a DESS (postgraduate) degree in journalism techniques.
Jean-François Julliard joined the Asia research division of RSF in 1998. He has directed successively the Maghreb/Middle East and the Africa divisions. In 2004, he was appointed research coordinator and in 2008 he was named deputy General Secretary. He has played a very active role in the campaign for the boycott of the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, notably in the action led by RSF at the Olympia torch-lighting ceremony.
He is a frequent contributor to the magazine Médias.
